Next we're going to show you how to use some of the key features of SumoMe.

SumoMe Smart Bar

The top section of a website is a perfect opportunity to present and offer to your visitors and have them take action before they view any other content on the site. It's a great way to present an announcement, provide a lead magnet or link the visitor to a limited time special.

The SumoMe smart bar appears at the top of the website and has three functions:
  1. Email capture
  2. Call to action
  3. Social following
The screenshot below shows the settings page for the call to action which includes a demo so you can see how it's going to look (you can customise the colours to suit your brand too).

Email Capture

Capturing emails and growing your database is one of the best ways to grow a business, and by using the email capture feature you can put your list grow on autopilot.

Once you have activated this feature, create text to entice your visitors to opt in.

The key here is to offer something in value for return. For example, "sign up for 10% coupon" works a lot better than "sign up for our email list".

Think about what you can offer to your visitors in exchange for their email address. In digital marketing, this is called a Lead Magnet.

If you would like to learn more about Lead Magnets, search on the Renegade Empire blog or contact us at [email protected] and we would be happy to point you in the right direction.

Call To Action

The call to action feature is just like the email capture feature except that it includes a button instead of a sign up field.

Make sure you are offering value and use persuasive text to entice the visitor to click on the button.

Some examples could include: new blog post; items on sale; tickets selling fast; upcoming event; link to landing page with lead magnet offer.

Social Following

If likes and shares is your goal, then use the social following option to present the follow button for the social platform of your choice.

Measure Success

One of the best features of SumoMe is that it measures and reports on conversion rates, even within the free version. The insight here is incredible as it will let you how effective your offers are over time.

The below screenshot shows a call to action campaign within the Smart Bar. The blue line shows clicks and the grey line shows impressions. Hovering over a date will show the actual numbers and using the date settings we can change the period of time shown.
